For your final task, the group will create two pie charts and analyze these charts to draw some conclusions about the role social economic status played in being rescued on the Titanic.
- Print one copy of the pie chart worksheet below (or your group may do this in a Microsoft Office document).
- Create two pie charts showing 1. the social economic status of people who were passengers on the ship and 2. the social economic status of passengers who did not survive the Titanic and discuss what the pie charts tell you.
- Write a brief summary of your group's discussion, analysis, and conclusions. Answer the following questions: 1. What do the charts indicate about the significance of social economic status during the rescue efforts; 2. What do the charts indicate about the significance of social economic status during the Progressive Era?, 3. If the sinking of the Titanic occurred today, do you think social economic status would play a significant role in the survival of passengers? Why or why not?
